Toy Story recreation in Halo Infinite’s forge mode by Red Nomster
It’s no surprise to hear that Halo Infinite has been a hollow game from the day of its release. Key features were left out and the rest of the game had a lot of issues and lacked polish. It has been over a year now and not a whole lot has changed. There are still many glaring issues with the game’s multiplayer and it doesn’t feel much different from what it did on November 15, 2021. I can go on and on about Infinite’s, but 343i added something big that give Halo fans a reason to play the game again.
a quick history lesson
Halo’s forge mode made its debut with the release of Halo 3 in September of 2007. It was a very exciting addition and helped make the already great game even better. Three years later forge was back with the release of Halo Reach. This was revolutionary. Halo 3’s version was vastly expanded upon and became a core element of the Halo experience. A dedicated forge map named, “Forge World” became the primary sandbox for creators in the community. The map was massive and allowed for seemingly endless variations of custom maps to be created inside of it. Custom games became a place where you and your friends could have fun for hours on end.
When 343ii took over, forge mode didn’t really get any better. Halo 4’s forge was arguably worse than Halo Reach’s. It definitely didn’t feel nearly as fun and lacked innovation. The game lost popularity quickly which didn’t make things better. On the other hand, Halo 5 saw a solid resurgence in the forge community. Although its forge mode was added several moths after release, it was very good. Innovations made this version the most advanced to date. While very technical and much more difficult to use, it allowed for much more possibilities.
forge is back and its better than ever
Almost a year after Halo Infinite’s release, forge is finally back. It turned out to be everything the Halo community hoped it would be. Innovations were made across the board that make it several times better than even Halo 5’s version. Its new scripting feature quite literally makes anything possible. New game modes and sophisticated creations are being upload to Halo Infinite’s file share system on the daily. I cannot stress how good this forge mode is. You have the ability to forge anything you can thing of and its only the beginning.
final thoughts
343i has done many, many things wrong with Halo Infinite so far. Forge is not one of them. There is finally a reason to play the game again.
